Kitchen Fire, 722 Preference Road

SMFD responded to a call for an activated alarm at 722 Preference Road. Upon arrival, units found the resident had become distracted and left food on the stove and oven. Smoke was removed from the residence using positive pressure ventilation.

SMFD Oyster Roast

The firefighters of SMFD will be holding the annual Oyster Roast and Shrimp Boil at the former SCNG Armory in St. Matthews. All you care to eat steamed oysters (provided and cooked by Simmons Seafood, Mt. Pleasant, SC), boiled shrimp, corn on the cob, boiled red potatoes, and slaw will be served. Sweet tea is provided. Table condiments include butter (bring your own hot sauce). Coolers are allowed but PLEASE DRINK RESPONSIBLY.

Tickets are $20.00 in advance, $25.00 at the door. Kids tickets are available for $10.00. All proceeds benefit the fire department.

It's the only fundraiser the department conducts, so bring your appetite and some friends. For tickets, call 803 655-5949.
